Federal Programs Specialist

As a Highway Safety Specialist, you will:
- Independently plan and carry out a variety of compliance, enforcement, and safety promotion activities aimed at a variety of safety and compliance problems.
- Interpret and analyze complex motor carrier laws and regulations.
- Provide advice as an expert on investigations, compliance reviews, hazardous materials, and related activities throughout the State, including exceptionally complex enforcement cases.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with Federal, State, Local law enforcement leadership involved in motor carrier safety programs.
- Serve as a FMCSA representative in all interactions involving transportation safety with various motor carriers, motor carrier employees, contractors, and associations representing the motor carrier industries.
- Have expert knowledge of the laws, regulations, precedent decisions, interpretations, and critical issues related to motor carrier safety and the federal compliance enforcement program, including those concerned with the transportation and handling of hazardous materials.
