Preschool Intervention Specialist
Thrive is enthusiastically looking for a Preschool Intervention Specialist to join our expert care team in our mission to serve young children on the autism spectrum through play-based learning experiences in our highly supportive and enriched environment. As a vital member of the team, the Intervention Specialist will plan and implement small group instruction including daily circle time and classroom centers as well as work on individualized education plan goals (IEP) and positive behavior support plans. The Preschool Intervention Specialist will lead the classroom and provide direction to Behavior Technicians who are supporting individual students. The Preschool Intervention Specialist works as in collaboration with related service providers (speech / OT) as well as BCBAs and the Thrive Administrative Team. The Preschool Intervention Specialist will be scheduled to work M-Thursday 8:45-4:00 and on Fridays for preparation of classroom setup for weekly classroom thematic units. Thrive operates year round, but offers 4 weeks (paid) off during the year. Additionally, Thrive offers generous Paid Time Off (PTO). This position requires an active education license in one of the following fields: Intervention Specialist; Preschool Intervention Specialist; Early Childhood Education (PreK-3).
Specific Duties & Responsibilities include:
- Prepare classroom for weekly learning theme, implementing engaging learning activities at each classroom center
- Implement daily lessons with multiple small groups throughout the instructional day
- Work directly with students and coordinate learning activities for facilitation by behavior technicians
- Collaborate with teachers and other educational professionals to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Implement individualized student positive behavior support plans
- Implement differentiated instruction of the Ohio Early Childhood Learning Standards to meet the needs of individual students
- Keep accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and co-workers
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
- Experience working with students who have special needs, such as IEPs or 504 plans.
- Experience with classroom management and behavior intervention techniques.
- Experience developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Strong knowledge of special education regulations and best practices, specifically Applied Behavior Analysis
- Experience with Montessori methods or similar educational philosophies.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other educational professionals.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain a positive and respectful attitude in the face of challenging situations.
