SIP 2025 - Sport and Exercise Studies Intern (Western Campus) at Tri-C Sports and Exercise Studies

Tri-C’s Sport and Exercise Studies program provides students with the knowledge and skills to be fitness professionals.  Graduates will be prepared to sit for a variety of nationally accredited certification examinations in personal training and group fitness instruction.  In addition, students graduating from the program may transfer to four year institutions to continue their education in exercise science, exercise physiology, sports management, or other fitness related fields.

Note: In-person interviews will be conducted on Feb. 28, 2025, at West and Metro. These interview fairs are your only opportunity to meet and interview with hiring supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of fitness assessments in the Fitness Testing and Training Center at the Western Campus (including, but not limited to BodPod assessments, Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) and VO2 max testing)
  • Assist in departmental projects (5K's, Exercise is Medicine events)
  • Personal train employees, students and general public in Fitness Testing and Training Center
  • Gain presentation experience by assisting SES staff during hands-on workshops/videos
  • Complete a special project to be assigned by the department

Preferred Qualifications

  • Sport and Exercise Studies (SES) Declared Major
  • Completed coursework: SES 2410 or similar experience
  • Ability to work well within a group
  • Strong interpersonal skills,
  • Personal Training Certification (ACSM, NSCA, NSCF preferred)

Program Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in current semester (Spring 2025)
  • Must enroll in a minimum of one Summer 2025 course
  • Must be returning to Tri-C for Fall 2025 Semester
  • Must have a declared major on record

This position is part of the Cuyahoga Community College Summer Internship Program. 

Note: International students are eligible for employment with on-campus/ internal Tri-C departments only.
