Full Time Athletic Trainer
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain records and health updates of student athletic forms and provide the Director of Athletics with a cleared list of student athletes per season.
- Responsible for evaluating and rehabilitating all students in the interscholastic athletic program, in consultation with appropriate medical personnel.
- Assist and advise all coaching staff members regarding injury prevention, conditioning programs and the selection, care, and fitting of protective equipment.
- Provide advice and assistance to all coaches regarding the recognition and care of athletic injuries.
- Provide on-going in-service programs for coaches under the direction of the Director of Athletics.
- Distribute and collect medical kits, water coolers, ice chests. Maintain coach’s medical kits.
- Responsible for the organization, inventory, and distribution of all training supplies. Submit requisition for equipment and supplies to the Director of Athletics. The athletic trainer will submit an annual budget for yearly first-aid and medical supplies.
- Document all injuries in computer program and maintain records.
- All athletic injuries must be appropriately documented and reported to the Director of Athletics and school nurse immediately. Annual report of injuries must be maintained and submitted at the end of each school year to the Director of Athletics.
- Provide a written report to the Director of Athletics noting strengths, weaknesses, and recommendations of the training program at the end of each athletic season.
- Monitor and maintain conditions of the training room.
- Participate in ongoing computer in-service programs as offered by the school.
- Impact testing of all athletes
- Submit updates for coaches and student handbook regarding medical issues and procedures to the Director of Athletics
Qualifications:
- Registered by the State of New Jersey’s Board of Medical Examiners.
- Certified as an Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association.
- Extensive background and knowledge of interscholastic athletics.
- Ability to work effectively and relate well with students, coaches, parents and administrators.
Conditions and Requirements:
- The Athletic Trainer reports directly to the Director of Athletics.
- Workday is 10 a.m. to the conclusion of practice/games. On days when no athletic events/practices are scheduled the workday is 9 am to 4 p.m. Arrival time will flex according to afternoon schedule
- Weekend and/or vacation work will vary, depending on the athletic schedule. This will be determined by the Director of Athletics.
- The Athletic Trainer must attend all home athletic events, including off campus sites and special school events.
- Contract Dates: 11-month contract; August 1 to June 30th.
- Attendance at faculty meeting and in-service as required.
Physical Demands:
Able to lift 25 lbs.
