REMOTE Copy Editor
Sports Media, Inc. is seeking a talented and creative Copywriter to join our team. This role is perfect for a passionate storyteller who wants to develop their skills not only in copywriting and copy editing but also in publishing across multiple platforms, including books, magazines, eBooks, and digital media.
As a Copywriter at Sports Media, Inc., you will craft compelling content for marketing campaigns, social media, editorial pieces, and branded materials. You will gain hands-on experience in the publishing industry, learning how to create, edit, and distribute content for both print and digital formats. Additionally, this role will expose you to the rapidly growing world of social media influence marketing, where you’ll develop strategies to engage audiences and amplify brand messages through influencer partnerships.
Job Description:
Work remotely to assist in the growth and promotion of dakdan entertainment and Sports Media Inc. Learn what it takes to effectively promote and manage a brand image. Finally, learn what the sports marketing industry has to offer through hands-on experience. This will be a remote work position, interns can check in Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.
Responsibilities:
- Proofreading and editing articles with a sharp eye for detail and catching every mistake of spelling, punctuation, grammar, and syntax.
- Ensuring articles are well-written and logically structured, i.e., ensure clarity, accuracy, and flow in the story.
- Confirm that articles are in line with "house style" and retain the voice of professionalism.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by manager or supervisor.
Requirements:
- Applicants must be available to attend meetings on Mondays at 9:00 AM, Wednesdays at 10:00 AM, and Fridays at 8:00 AM Mountain Standard Time.
- If in the Skill Bridge program, attend an additional meeting on Thursdays at 9:00 AM Mountain Standard Time.
- Current undergraduate majoring in journalism, communication, or any related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word (or Google Docs), Excel, and Publisher; Slack (Teachable).
- Possess proficient editing, writing, grammar, and proofreading skills (expanded vocabulary is a plus).
- Possess excellent communication skills; focusing on communication between writers and editors.
- Ability to retain a writer's voice in the story after copy editing.
- Ability to work independently with little to no supervision; self-motivated/disciplined.
- Ability to work with others in teams.
- Possess computer and data entry skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-volume environment.
- Possess outstanding work ethic and ability to reach daily/weekly goals.
- Pay attention to details.
- Ability to meet stringent deadlines without compromising on quality.
