SPARK (Summer Program for the Advancement of Research Knowledge)
The SPARK program was started in 1986 to allow undergraduate students the opportunity to train within the various specialties (Immunology, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Public Health, Drug Discovery, Molecular Oncology, etc.) of cancer research at the Moffitt Cancer Center. To date, we have hosted over 700 interns and are proud to continue training the next generation of researchers and physicians.
We host interns in Moffitt labs for 10 weeks, while they work on various project with the assistance of their mentors. Upon the conclusion of the program, students present their findings at Research Day. To prepare the interns, we have a weekly scientific communications class. This helps the interns get comfortable with their material and presenting in front of others.
Applicants must be 18 and a US Citizen. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept students on visas, due to the stipend provided.
The program does not provide housing, for this reason most of our successful applicants are local to the Tampa Bay area.
Apply now! Application closes February 4th, 2025. Email SPARK@moffitt.org with any questions.
