Water Engineering Intern

Oxy’s Summer Intern Program runs from May to August for a full 12 weeks. As an Oxy intern, you will have the opportunity to experience real-life projects with hands-on participation in Oxy’s core businesses. Your summer project will be designed to add value to our operations while providing an opportunity to observe your skills and competencies in action. Oxy interns are paired with a manager and mentor in order to provide technical guidance throughout the project timeline. In addition to attending training and development courses, lunch and learns, field trips, and social activities, interns will be given the chance to meet with Oxy executives and leadership throughout the internship. 

 

Description

 

The engineering intern will work with members of the Water Technology and Strategy Team in providing support to various Business Units across Oxy on water related technologies including oil in water separation and potentially desalination with a potential to support other problem solving opportunities. 

 

This role may include but not be limited to:

 

·       Conducting field trials and advancing projects related to oil in water separation

·       Supporting desalination program including field support work

·       Trouble shooting of field operational issues

·       Establishing plans to expand existing or pending projects

·       Analysis of data relative to various water-oil technology projects and distilling the data to meaningful results

·       Presentation of results to Team and Business Units

·       This role will collaborate with immediate Team Engineers and Business Unit Operations

 

Required Qualifications

·       BS or advanced Chemical Engineering degree

·       Must have a graduation date of December 2025 – May 2027

·       Maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale

·       Must be motivated and willing to learn new scientific as well as operational relationships to facilitate the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling oil in water separation technologies and/or desalination programs in oil field operations

·       Must be willing to innovate and research topics that may not be well known or understood

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills
