Speech Language Pathologist
A Speech Language Pathologist position is available at Family Service Madison’s Bridges for Families Birth to 3 Program. This position is part-time, 24 hours per week.
Experience:
- A Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology with license to practice or eligibility to practice in Wisconsin
- Prefer certificate of clinical competence (CCC) completion.
- Experience or interest in working in early intervention, in natural environments, and teaming with families and other service providers.
Description:
A Speech Language Pathologist position is available at Family Service Madison Bridges for Families Birth to 3 Program. The Speech Language Pathologist works as a team member to promote and enhance the development of infants and toddlers with developmental delays, diagnosed medical conditions and disabilities within their daily routines and activities, respecting each family’s culture and in accordance with the outcomes developed with families on each Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
The following duties are typical for this position and are not all inclusive:
- Perform evaluations of infants and toddlers who may be eligible for services
- Work directly with families and early intervention team members in achieving the outcomes of the IFSP through implementing, monitoring and reviewing the strategies of the child's IFSP
- Work directly with Birth to 3 service coordinators and providers, as well as other county and community programs
- Communicate professionally both verbally and in writing
- Be available and responsive to families and team members by maintaining flexibility, confidentiality and punctuality
- Adhere to Birth to 3 Program timelines and work expectations
- Use independent judgment, timeliness and discretion in setting daily priorities to complete tasks and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural, social, economic, individual, and family differences
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid license to practice as a speech language pathologist in Wisconsin (or eligible)
- Reliable vehicle and valid driver's license
- Computer literacy
- Eligible candidates must pass a Wisconsin caregiver background check and criminal history screening.
Hours: 24 hours per week
Desirable Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge and understanding of infants and toddlers who have delays and/or disabilities, of child development and of family structure/dynamics. Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Part C and Wisconsin's Birth to 3 Program (DHS 90). Knowledge of the nature and effects of developmental disabilities and of appropriate services for the care, treatment and support of children with disabilities and their families. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community agencies and a wide range of personnel. Excellent personal, oral and written communication skills. Ability to work as part of a dynamic team and participate in networking and collaboration
