Journalism and Business Interns Wanted

Come learn with us at LEO Weekly!

We're looking for a few exceptional students interested in journalism, marketing, and business to join our newsroom (90% remote with daily digital meetings). You'll get a chance to take the pulse of the city, interview creative people and even confront the powers that be. Working closely with an editor, you'll get to write. You'll get to take photos. You'll get bylines and photo credits. If you're interested in the business side, you'll work closely with the sales and business team. The only coffee you'll fetch will be your own.

You should be able to join us for 10-15 hours each week and have transportation (or the ability to access public transit), since we’ll be sending you out on assignment. You must live within our coverage area for that same reason. The internship is unpaid but we want you to get at least school credit for your work.

We have space for general news, digital media , special interest: politics, music, arts, and business interns.

Journalism Interns will work with our Editorial team on:

  • Planning daily and weekly articles (at least 5 blogs per week). Blogs are typically 200-300-word articles that are driven by public relations emails/government announcements with little reporting to draw people to the site on a regular basis. - Being flexible enough to cover relevant events, features or important news items, depending on what is most important to LEO in that moment.
  • Using platforms such as BlueSky, Facebook/FB stories and Instagram/Instagram stories and TikTok to connect LEO Weekly content with readers.
  • Creating videos for TikTok and Instagram centered around content that connects with our readers
  • Working with the managing editor, achieving page view goals, unique visitor goals and other monthly goals set by the company.

Business Interns will work with our Business and Sales team on:
