RF Design Engineer

Department Overview

The RF Site Hardware team is an organization within the Products and Solutions group of Motorola Solutions. The team is responsible for developing and maintaining sophisticated and highly reliable communications, infrastructure, and networking products for Mission Critical and commercial communication products across a variety of global markets and standards. The RF Site Hardware Engineering team develops state of the art Digital, RF, Mechanical, and Power Supply solutions to meet our customer’s needs.


Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing amplifiers, receivers, VCO’s and PLL’s. The initial assignment will consist of developing an RF circuit for the next generation of infrastructure products operating in the VHF through 900 MHz bands.  Other assignments could consist of supporting field issues or end-of-life components related to RF circuits on legacy products.

The candidate is expected to have knowledge in RF circuit design, basic RF amplifier knowledge, and communication theory. He/she should enjoy hands-on building and debugging of circuits. During the development phase of a project, the candidate would work closely with other engineers, suppliers, and the factories in Mexico or Elgin, Illinois.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

Strong background in RF circuit design and wireless communication theory.

Working knowledge in simulation tools such as ADS.

Knowledge in Cadence Allegro Design Entry HDL and PCB layout Editor or similar tools.

Works autonomously but able to work effectively with other engineering disciplines.

Sound analytic skills and able to troubleshoot circuits quickly.

Ability to manage multiple concurrent design projects.

Summarizes complex technical concepts clearly.

Good writing and communication skills.

Working knowledge of Labview or Python is a plus.

Having an Amateur Radio License is a plus.
