2025 Summer Internship Program: Intern, Portfolio Management Group
Hamilton Lane, a global investment leader in the private markets sector, is looking to hire an intern for our Portfolio Management Group team.
This team provides insightful, data-driven analysis pertaining to private markets portfolio construction, strategy, and risk. PMG interacts regularly with our global offices, reacts to external client needs, and provides proactive thought leadership to drive investment selection, client satisfaction and new business development.
What’s the Job:
You will work with some of the industry’s most highly regarded and experienced professionals to develop analytical techniques that drive portfolio strategy, investment assessment and portfolio forecasting.
You will:
- Analyze proprietary data sets and build financial models to support Hamilton Lane’s portfolio construction philosophy, investment allocation decisions, and in- depth market research.
- Use quantitative analysis to develop a deep understanding of all private markets strategies pursued by Hamilton Lane, including venture capital, leveraged buyouts, credit, infrastructure, and real estate.
- Evaluate the attributes of private investment opportunities sourced by Hamilton Lane’s Investment Teams to determine portfolio fit by joining investment team meetings to hear about investments firsthand.
- Assess the development, performance, and risk factors of client portfolios and make recommendations on adjustments to portfolio strategy
- Address queries from clients, prospects, and industry partners related to portfolio construction.
- Combine investment acumen with quantitative analysis to support the investment process and promote the firm as an industry thought leader.
- Work on special projects and other company initiatives, including development of portfolio construction tools, the firm’s annual market overview and technology initiatives based on work prototyped by the portfolio management team.
What We’re Looking for:
- High Academic Achievement
- Major: currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related field
- Technical Skills: experience with financial modeling, basic statistical analysis, and / or data analysis with programming / scripting skills (SQL, R, Python, MATLAB, etc.) required.
- Leadership: in clubs, sports, community service, etc.
- Language: English fluency.
- The ability to work in the US without sponsorship.
- Effective time management and organization skills
- Examples of being a self-starter with a drive to excel.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team
