Senior Accountant

A-G Specialty Insurance, LLC designs, markets and underwrites specialty sports, accident, and general liability insurance products. We have been in operation since 1983 and are nationally recognized as a leader in the sports insurance industry.

Job Summary

The Senior Accountant will prepare financial statements, help with the monthly close, management reporting, accounting, budgeting, and forecasting. The position is focused on enhancing the accounting department to scale with the company’s ambitious growth plans. The role will be a hybrid position which will primarily have in person responsibilities combined with remote work opportunity.

Essential Duties & Functions

  • Perform all aspects of operational accounting supported by a small accounting team including, but not limited close, cash management, financial close, budget, financial planning & analysis and receivables balancing between the operational system and QuickBooks
  • Leverage QuickBooks and data from the proprietary operating system to assist with the monthly close
  • Collaborate with all functions inside the organization to make best use of established personnel and technology resources for process improvements
  • Perform reconciliations monthly as part of the regular close process.
  • Perform operational tasks such as cutting checks, processing refunds, and batching premiums
  • Update budgets and forecasts to align with changes made in the business 
  • Design processes to be scalable to accommodate the company’s growth aspirations
  • Prepare financial reporting packages

Required/Preferred Education and Experience

  • Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Required Experience: 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Preferred Experience: CPA, MBA or insurance experience (not required)

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and scanners.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. This position requires employees to work on-site 4-5 days per work depending on workload. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The schedule for this role can be contingent upon Supervisor and Human Resources approval. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
