DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Dental Assistant for the Department of Corrections, you will work with our experienced staff to provide essential dental services to our inmate population in a compassionate and professional manner. Your duties will include assisting a dentist during examinations and treatments, scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, maintaining dental records, providing chair-side assistance, and performing dental laboratory procedures. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the oral health of our inmates and contribute to the overall functioning of the dental office.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment (37.50 hours per week)
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,773.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in a dental office or clinic; or
- Successful completion of an accredited Dental Assisting certificate program; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
You must have successfully completed the Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) Exam as required by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirement:
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
