General Purpose:

The Kelley Ambassador position is designed to give students the opportunity to represent the Kelley School of Business and Indiana University, Indianapolis. Kelley Ambassadors are the initial contact for students, staff, faculty, and visitors of the Kelley Office of Academic and Professional Development. The primary focus of the position will be front desk coverage, administrative support, and event assistance.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Office Operations

  • Representing the Kelley School of Business by providing information to students, faculty, staff and community members about KAPD (Kelley Academic & Professional Development) programs, events and services.
  • Scheduling and managing calendar for multi-use spaces with the Office of Academic and Development
  • Helping students schedule and check-in for academic and career advising appointments.
  • Providing resources and information related to academic advising and career services.

Events & Program Promotion

  • Encourage and promote KelleyHired program and distribute promotional items to students
  • Representing the KAPD team at key undergrad events: Kelley Convocation, Kelley Fall Career Fair, Kelley Spring Career Fair, Kelley Welcome Back Bash and Kelley Senior Picnic.
  • Occasionally will be asked to create content for Kelley undergrad social media accounts (LinkedIn, Instagram).

Peer Coaching

  • Reviewing and approving resumes in Handshake for students
  • Meeting 1:1 with Kelley students to share best practices for resume and cover letter development, preparing for career fairs and prepping for interviews.
  • Provide undergraduate students with peer advising information as determined by the academic advising team.

Community Engagement

  • Collaborate with KAPD staff to communicate or support prospective Kelley students during their application process.

Desired Minimum Qualifications:

  • A positive representative of Kelley School of Business, Indianapolis
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team
  • Exercise confidentiality when working with sensitive information
  • Good Written and verbal communication skills
  • Punctuality and time management
  • Initiative to propose project ideas to KAPD based on observation of Kelley student needs

Availability:

  • Position will begin in January and conclude in May, with potential to continue over the summer as needed
  • Kelley Ambassadors typically work 10 hours / week, not to exceed 18.
  • Able to work varying shifts as needed by the office, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday

Education and Experience:

  • Current undergraduate student (rising sophomore, junior or senior), preferably in the Kelley School of Business
  • Maintain good academic standing
