Job Description:

The Dobbs Ferry School District seeks a Special Education Teaching Assistant with proven experience working with students with special needs Effective January 2025, this is a full-time, probationary, tenure track position.  Minimum Requirement: NYSED Level I Teaching Assistant certification. Salary commensurate with experience and on par with the CSEA Clerical, Teacher Aide/Teaching Assistant contract. Additional compensation in the amount of $4.00 per hour for toileting duties. Description: As per NYSED teaching assistants provide instructional services to students under general supervision of a certified teacher. These positions require working with individual or multiple students with special needs, and may include performing toileting/hygiene tasks in support of students with IEP or 504 plan; Behavior Support, including modeling and implementing evidence-based behavior intervention strategies and helping students with challenging behaviors, ensuring interventions are practiced; collect data on student behavior and skill acquisition. 

Duties may vary depending upon student-specific needs. The successful candidate will lead or assist in various activities, aid in the development of educational material, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit; is regularly required to climb, squat, stop, kneel, crouch or crawl; to reach above the head and reach forward; is regularly required to use hands and fingers to feel or handle objects, tools, or controls, and to talk and hear; is occasionally required to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds.
