SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Position Summary

Expanding Frontiers (ExF) is a technology accelerator dedicated to spinning out and supporting South Texas startups leveraging NASA and NewSpace-related technologies. As part of the vibrant ExF ecosystem, this role offers opportunities to work closely with innovative startups, learn from experienced mentors, and contribute to the development of groundbreaking technologies. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Software Engineer to support Expanding Frontiers and its tech startups with data processing, application development, Radio Frequency (RF) signal processing, and algorithm development.

This position is primarily based in Brownsville, TX, with occasional travel required. Remote work arrangements may be considered based on the candidate's qualifications and needs.

Essential Job Duties

  • Provide technical support to Expanding Frontiers and its ecosystem of early-stage tech startups.
  • Develop and deploy software to support minimum viable product (MVP) capabilities.
  • Design and maintain software packages for effective data processing, visualization, and handling.
  • Collaborate on or initiate writing of technical reports and presentations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Must have all five)

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Python and C/C++.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary R&D environment.
  • At least 2 years of post-education experience in software development, signal processing, or algorithm development.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, professional discipline, and a team-focused attitude.

Preferred Additional Qualifications 

Note: Meeting the preferred qualifications listed is an advantage, but not a requirement. At Expanding Frontiers, we place a strong emphasis on potential, adaptability, and a drive to grow, alongside demonstrated experience.

  • Experience with RF signal processing or similar technologies.
  • Knowledge of computer vision and 2D image processing.
  • Expertise in computational and data algorithm deployment.
  • Familiarity with Git and modern version control practices.
  • Experience with software packaging and Python virtual environments.
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and their applications.

Salary Range
$60,000 - $85,000 annually
The salary for the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as experience, education, and specialization.
