Journeyman pay scale: $27.83-$36.02
Master Electrician pay scale: $30.63-$39.64
The Electrician/RRC, under general supervision, performs a variety of journeyman level duties, including maintenance, repair and new construction of electrical systems and apparatus. Work is also performed on overhead and underground high voltage distribution systems, motor controls, including variable-speed drives, stationary and portable diesel generators, induction motors, telemetry, and industrial logic circuits, including PLCs. In addition to electrical work, the employee may be assigned other maintenance duties related to the collection and treatment of wastewater. The employee in this class must be capable of specifying and procuring materials to implement the work. Work will ordinarily be performed during the normal day shift, Monday through Friday; however, the employee must be available and willing to perform emergency work on nights and weekends on an as needed basis.
Required Minimum Entrance Qualifications
- Must be a high school graduate or have successfully completed a General Education Development Examination (GED); AND
- Have a minimum of four (4) years full-time work experience as a state licensed Journeyman Electrician in Michigan.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
Physical Conditions / Work Location
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
An employee in this class must be in good physical condition such to provide for the lifting and carrying of objects weighing fifty (50) pounds or more and for standing, bending, kneeling and walking for extended periods of time while performing job duties.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
This employee performs job duties in the buildings, sewage lift stations, and on the grounds of the Muskegon County Resource Recovery Center. Travel throughout Muskegon County may be required.

EVALUATION CONTENT
The selected candidate must take a post-offer medical examination (including back screen and complete physical) and drug screening test given by a County appointed physician before the first day of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the medical examination and drug screening test. Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
