IT Intern (paid)

This paid IT Intern role is within Horizon’s Appian business, supporting technology, consulting, and industry. Interns participate in a variety of roles, including those of an actual full-time BPM consultant.

The internship is one month, starting on Jan 13 - at which time we will enroll you in a virtual (9-5, Mon-Fri) Appian course that we will sponsor, followed by a 3-week internal training on Appian and soft skills. Upon completion of the 4 weeks internship, if you meet the performance metrics, and depending on availability of projects, you will roll over to being a full-time employee with Horizon Industries. 

We look for students that demonstrate leadership, strong academic performance, motivation and involvement on campus, and an interest in a career in software development. The internship roles are a great opportunity to experience how real, web-scale software is designed, implemented, tested and released.

Duties of an internship may include:

  • Shadow experienced Appian professionals to gain insight into the implementation and customization of the platform.
  • Assist in conducting research on Appian best practices and industry trends, and present findings to the team.
  • Support the creation of Appian workflows, forms, and reports under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Participate in testing and quality assurance activities to ensure the functionality and performance of Appian applications.
  • Collaborate with team members to document and maintain Appian configurations, customizations, and integrations.
  • Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance your understanding of Appian functionalities and capabilities.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving basic Appian-related issues.
  • Contribute to the development of user training materials and resources to facilitate end-user adoption of Appian.
  • Take part in team meetings and brainstorming sessions to share ideas and contribute to ongoing projects.
  • Embrace a learning mindset and actively seek opportunities to expand your knowledge of Appian and related technologies.

  • Excellent task management in team-setting as well as individually tackling short-term projects
  • Resides in the Metro DC area

Education: Must have at least a bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

Hourly rate: $20 USD per hour (40 hours per week)

Hybrid – once a week in the office (Wednesday)
