Biostatistics Intern

Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join our Clinical Biostatistics department located at our Athens, GA facility. As an Intern, you will search through and combine appropriate/connected historical studies in parasitology, infectious and/or non-infectious disease areas to determine if experimental design decisions in these studies should be continued, or if new recommendations should be made. There are no restrictions on the analysis and students with familiarity with Bayesian statistics, experimental design, clinical trial design and/or model development are all encouraged to apply.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform retrospective analysis of previous studies to make recommendations for future studies
  • Perform data cleaning and manipulation of historical data, in various formats and locations
  • Carry out bibliographical search of relevant materials
  • Produce written document describing the results of the above

Requirements

  • Must be an advanced degree student in good academic standing
  • Student must be enrolled at a college or university for the duration of the internship
  • Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred
  • Major or minor in related field of internship
  • Undergraduate students must have completed at least 12 credit hours at current college or university
  • Graduate and Advanced Degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities

  • Knowledge of statistical methodology, design of experiments, Bayesian Statistics, Monte Carlo
  • Working knowledge of R (and SAS)
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with members of the BDS and clinical team
  • Unique to each individual internship
