Summary:
The Technician is primarily responsible for all end user technologies utilized by the Toll Road. This responsibility includes the inspection, installation, preventive maintenance, documentation and general administration of these technologies. As professional staff members of the Information Technology Department, these individuals are expected to incorporate a high degree of precision, timeliness and competence.
Relationships:
- Reports directly to the TM Supervisors
- Frequent contact with IT analysts and Communications technicians.
- Incumbent will also have a direct work relationship with toll plaza supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Performs all tasks safely, complies with all internal and external safety requirements, supports ITRCC safety culture, attends all safety trainings and completes all compliance trainings as required by ITRCC.

- Manage, update and complete assigned tickets (PM or CM) within expected completion timeframe
- Perform and Complete Preventative Maintenance (PM) as assigned and scheduled
- Toll Systems troubleshooting/break/fix to ensure ongoing operations of lane-side systems
- Toll system monitoring and servicing of all revenue collection/auditing systems and all peripherals (all components, devices, cabling - power and data) ensuring a high degree of availability and accuracy
- Maintain all computers systems, peripherals and other specialized devices utilized in the Toll System
- Service and maintain LAN, video, and other discrete signalling devices utilized in the Toll System
- Utilizing available documentation and provided training, maintain high-level of proficiency with supported technologies
- Assist with system installations and oversight of contractors completing work on the Toll Road
- Manage and maintain assigned work areas with attention to organization and cleanliness
- Available after hours during on-call rotation for callout with the ability to travel to affected locations as required
- Periodically work under the direction of IT and Communications regarding fault isolation, identification and resolution and other complex operational issues
- Assist other technical peers with tasks and duties
- Provide installation services for supported Toll System technologies
- Accurately complete all required reports and correspondence in a timely manner
- Act as a department representative during new construction and/or renovation
- Toll System equipment installations/repairs/testing/configurations/inspections
- Toll System inventory control
- Provides roadside emergency assistance as needed
- Performs other duties are required
* Toll System defined as: ATPMs, ATIMs and Credit Card Machines in whole and parts, lane controllers, treadles, loops, lasers, gates, gate arms, RF reader/antennae, integrated digital signage, UPS, lane/plaza/queueing cameras, power supplies and all peripherals supporting the in-lane toll system, software supporting the in-lane toll system, low-voltage electrical up to 120VAC and data supporting the in-lane toll system.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in Information Systems Technology or equivalent experience
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
Desirable Experience:
- 2-4 years of experience in related field
Working Conditions:
- This position requires: (Frequent est. 5 hrs per shift)
- Frequent standing, walking and sitting.
- Frequent talking and hearing.
- Light physical effort.
- Heavy computer usage.
- Travel Time required may be up to 20%
