Middle School Director

Laurelglen Bible Church (LBC) is a rapidly growing church located in Bakersfield, CA. The Middle School Director provides spiritual direction, teaching, and oversight of the middle school programs including the junior high "Remedy" and "Verge" 5th and 6th grade ministries as part of the Family Ministries Team and under the direction of the Family Ministries Pastor.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as leader of the middle school ministries staff and volunteers.
  • Oversee development of budget, curriculum, and calendar for the middle school ministries.
  • Recruit, equip, and supervise adult volunteers and student leadership teams.
  • Provide general spiritual care and biblical counseling to the youth and their families.
  • Provide work direction, disciple, and equip youth interns as needed.
  • Serve as a Christ-like example to youth ministry staff, volunteers, and youth in complying with LBC’s Covenant of Conduct.
  • Plan, oversee, and direct middle school ministry events, camps, and Club Remedy (VBS) including coordinating volunteers and parent chaperones and communicating with parents through email, social media, and texting services.

Personal Development Expectations

  • Engage in consistent personal Bible study and prayer.
  • Actively participate in a weekly worship services and a small group.
  • Schedule regular times for family, recreation, and refreshment.
  • Attend occasional seminars and conferences relevant to ministry and as assigned.
  • Actively seek to continually improve ministry effectiveness through reading relevant books and studying local culture and trends to best serve and support the parents involved in the ministries.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years of youth ministry experience that includes teaching, volunteering, and leadership.
  • Demonstrates a clear calling to vocational ministry.
  • Supports and upholds the vision, mission, statement of faith, and bylaws of LBC.
  • Demonstrates “Above reproach” character as defined by 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
  • A ministry or Biblical studies based bachelor’s degree from an LBC approved accredited college is recommended.
  • A relational heart for 5-8th graders that leads to building relationships with them.

Salary

  • 50k-60K per year plus medical, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Access to a matching 403b after the first year of employment.
