Primary Purpose: The part- time Student Assistant position for the Office of Intercultural Affairs and LGBTQ+ Resource Center works toward the mission of the Division of Student Affairs. The part time Student Assistant is responsible for programs, services and operations that foster student success while supporting University-wide organizations and student councils within the Office of Student Life & Activities. This is a January to May paid position requiring up to 20 hours per week, maybe including weekends. The hours can vary between 9am-8pm Monday through Thursday and Friday 9am-6pm. Some weekends may be required.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist with creating an environment that educates and promotes inclusivity, belongingness
and safety in our space.
- Planning and curating the resource center space to celebrate cultural history months
- Assist in developing plans to market, promote and publicize the office’s events/programs to
the campus community.
- Tabling and attending outreach events to promote the office
- Manage all Social Media platforms for the office.
- Assist with managing the Red Door- the clothing closet in our office.
- Connect with Internal and External partners for donations to office.
- Assist with creation of flyers for events in our office.
- Assist with keeping the Resource Center clean and organized.
- Report on needs in the space; cleaning supplies, office supplies and more.
- Managing the space during evening hours to accommodate after hours programming.
- Assist with creating google documents to collect data regarding the space.
- Responsible for enforcing all University and Student Life & Activities policies, rules,
expectations and guidelines as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.
- Demonstrate cultural competence in race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, gender
expression, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, ability, ideology, religion, national
origin, and other areas of diversity.
- Ability to handle crisis situations and sensitive topics.
- Keeping regularly scheduled office hours of 20 hours per week. Must meet with direct
supervisor on a weekly basis. Must be flexible with work schedule – available to work during
the day, evenings and weekends as necessary to support programs around academic class
schedule.
- Other duties as assigned by Intramural Coordinator and Director of Student Life & Activities.
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer knowledge
