Tradeshelper
This Tradeshelper position will work closely with the Supply and Facilities Sections of the City of Chesapeake’s, Public Utilities Maintenance & Operations Division.
The Tradeshelper will work with supply storeroom personnel to help ensure that the supply storeroom remains fully stocked, inventory is accurate, and will load/unload materials from the stockyard or storeroom and issue them to Public Utilities maintenance crews daily. Materials will include but are not limited to gravel, dirt, sand, tools, parts, equipment, electrical/mechanical pumps and motors, piping, fittings, and safety equipment.
The Tradeshelper will also be required to occasionally perform minor installations, modifications, maintenance, and repair of the Public Utilities facility including but not limited to the following: light carpentry, landscaping, painting, metalworking, and minor repairs to equipment with minimal direction/supervision.
The ability to competently use equipment/machinery is required. Candidates must have the ability to demonstrate safe and efficient use of motor-driven forklifts (or similar) and large loading equipment.
The Tradeshelper will also require the ability to use occasionally enter data into Maximo or similar work management systems, complete logs, forms, and reports, and follow specific directions or procedures from supervisors.
