Coordinator of Special Programs Health Services II, Health Services

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

The main purpose of this position is to assist the Cecil County Health Department's (CCHD) mission of promoting, protecting and improving the health of the county citizens. This position will provide professional nutrition services to recipients of WIC services in Cecil County. This position includes planning, developing, and implementing nutrition education plans, conducting outreach and providing public presentations on general nutrition topics. The population of focus for this position is pregnant mothers and families with children under the age of 5, and preference will be given to candidates that have participated in and/or have a deep understanding of the WIC program, processes and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of professional experience in assisting in the coordination of a health-related program(s) or referring people to governmental and private resources.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health-related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:

  • Experience in health or human service delivery providing client education, counseling services, or performing nutrition and/or health assessment.
  • Bilingual(Spanish/English)
  • Experience working with and providing nutritional counseling to pregnant women, families who are breastfeeding, and/or families with children under 5 years of age.
  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree from an accredited college
