2025-26 Student Leadership Employment Positions
Student leadership positions at MSUM are an excellent way for Dragons to take their university experience to the next level. In addition to landing a rewarding job that positively impacts the campus community, being a student leader provides you with an opportunity to grow and develop skills that will benefit you now, and into the future.
2025-26 positions include:

How to apply
Prepare your documents and save them as ONE SINGLE DOCUMENT.
- Update your resume. Be sure to include your education, work experience, involvement, volunteering, leadership, etc... Not sure where to start? Check out this resume guide.

Write a cover letter. Your cover letter should include the following:
- Why are you interested in being a student leader?
- For each position you are applying for, write one paragraph addressing why you’re interested and why you believe you’re a good fit.
- Discuss previous and current employment, campus/community/classroom involvement, and/or any volunteer experiences. What skills did you gain? How do these experiences make you a good fit for the positions you’re applying for?

Find references. Submit contact information for three references including their names, phone numbers, emails, and their relationship to you (i.e. supervisor, faculty, advisor). One must be a full-time professional staff member or faculty member from MSUM.
If you are applying to be a Resident Assistant, one of your references must be your current RA. If you live off campus, use a previous RA.
Save everything as one document
- Combine your resume, cover letter, and references into one document. Save as a word or pdf.
Complete your application on Handshake
- Click “Apply Externally”.
- Follow the instructions and upload your one document that includes your resume, cover letter, and list of references.
- Click “External Application”.
Complete the questionnaire
- Answer all of the questions on the questionnaire. Your application will be complete when you see the following message: “Thank you for completing the student leadership application process. Your application has now been submitted and will be reviewed. You will be receiving communication from departments on how to sign up for interview times at a later date.”
- Applications are due Monday, February 9 at 10 pm.
Sign up for an interview
- You will receive communication regarding each position you apply for with instructions on how to sign up for an interview.
- Interviews will take place from February 10-28.
Accept an offer
- Departments will be sending offer notices on March 6. If students are offered a position, they must accept their offer(s) by March 18 at 4 pm.
Attend the Leadership Summit on April 27, 2025 from 1:30-5 pm
- Student leaders are expected to attend the Spring Student Leadership Summit on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
