JOB TITLE -- Special Education Teacher

Job Summary:

The Special Education Teacher will work collaboratively with school staff, students, and parents to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that address the unique learning needs of each student. The ideal candidate should have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Reports to: Principal

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Alabama teaching certification in Special Education.
  • Previous experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.

Duties:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Utilize differentiated instruction to address the unique learning styles and abilities of each student.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student success.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed to meet academic and behavioral goals.

Terms of Employment: As established by the Board and applicable State law. 

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of  personnel.
