Advancement & Engagement Intern

Under the direction of the Chief Advancement & Engagement Officer, the Advancement & Engagement Intern supports the organization’s development and engagement strategy including fundraising, communications, social media, events, volunteer development, donor stewardship, and more. This position requires a self-motivated, creative, highly organized individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

 

Responsibilities:

The Advancement & Engagement Intern will assist Chief Advancement & Engagement Officer and Advancement & Engagement Specialist in all aspects of the Department to include:

  • Assess, plan, implement, monitor, and grow Mainstay’s social media to increase visibility and tell the Mainstay story. Monitor trends in social media and apply that knowledge to increase the use of social media at Mainstay Life Services. Measure the impact of social media.
  • Design flyers, advertisements, and other graphics for Mainstay’s services, events, and programs
  • Plan, develop, and implement marketing, communications, PR, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Research potential funding partners.
  • Review and provide input on enhancements to Mainstay’s website.
  • Administrative duties include data entry, correspondence development, database review and data updates.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Hours:

  • Varies; approximately 10 hours/week during academic year, with the possibility to extend for summer (25 +/- hours/week), and the following academic year.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Workers may be Exposed to:   Cold   Heat  Dust  Mist  Odors
  • Physical Requirements for the Position: ability to lift 50 pounds regularly, ability to respond quickly to sounds, ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces, ability to see and respond to dangerous situations, ability to work in extreme weather, ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree or studying toward a degree in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience working in an office environment preferred.
  • Skill in writing, photography, and videography for development of social media posts/stories.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and with graphic design via Canva, and/or Photoshop.
  • The ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
