Counseling Internship

The BLOOM365 Practicum is conducted on site in partner schools across Maricopa County, Arizona, as well as at BLOOM365’s offices in Phoenix and Peoria, Arizona.  

Students will see young people ages 11-24 who have experienced, witnessed or used interpersonal violence (domestic violence, sexual violence, dating violence, gender-based violence). 

 

During the Practicum Semester, students will complete the following requirements:

·      20 contact hours with young people impacted by interpersonal violence 

·      12 hours of facilitating or co-facilitating BLOOM365 therapeutic peer groups on site in partner schools and organizations

·      1 hour per week of individual supervision with BLOOM365’s contracted LPC

·      20 hours of additional non-direct hours (training, supervision, case notes and outcome/output reporting)

·      Optional additional hours of direct client-contact counseling with non-offending parents/caregivers

 

LOCATIONS

The BLOOM365 Practicum and Counseling Internship take place in various locations across Maricopa County, Arizona. You may be assigned to one or more partner schools, collaborating community organizations or on site at BLOOM365’s offices located in Phoenix and Peoria, Arizona. 

 

PARTICIPANTS/POPULATION SERVED

BLOOM365 Counseling services serve the following individuals:

o   Young people ages 11-24 who have experienced or witnessed interpersonal violence (domestic violence, sexual violence, dating violence, gender-based violence). 

o   Young people ages 11-24 who are at risk for controlling, abusive or violent behaviors or who are already using violence (domestic violence, sexual violence, dating violence, gender-based violence). 

o   Individuals with disabilities who have been victimized (domestic violence, sexual violence, dating violence, gender-based violence). 

o   Wrap around support for the non-offending parents and caregivers of participants engaged in BLOOM365 Counseling services.

 

CORE CURRICULA DELIVERED

The counseling team delivers the following BLOOM365 curricula to young people ages 11-24:

o   Real Talk Peer Support Groups for young survivors of abuse

o   Root It Out Peer Group for young people using violence

o   Traditional and non-traditional individual therapy modalities

o   Psychoeducation on healthy v. unhealthy relationships and violence prevention through BLOOM365’s 7-Dose Curriculum (Requires 20-30 hours a week minimum commitment for school-based delivery of curriculum)

 

CORE TRAINING REQUIRED & PROVIDED

Interpersonal Violence prevention and response training will be provided through the following:

o   7-hour BLOOM365 7-Dose Interpersonal Violence Prevention & Healthy Relationship Curriculum

o   9-hour 3 R’s Trusted Adult Ally Training: Recognize, Respond, Reframe

o   2-hour Coordinated Community Response Team Training

o   8-hour Victim’s Rights Training

o   2-hour SafeTALK suicide prevention training

 

COLLABORATION REQUIRED

The counseling team collaborates with and interacts on a daily basis with students, parents, caregivers, school social workers, school administrators, BLOOM365 counseling, advocate and intervention staff, and other community partners through a Coordinated Community Response Team model.

Clinical Supervisor: LCSW or LPC Clinical Supervisor
