Position Overview

Join us in the summer of 2025 and help us continue the legacy of fostering creativity, nurturing talent, and celebrating the individual artistic journey at Interlochen. We are seeking organized and efficient HR Interns who embody our core values and are committed to nurturing young artists. As a Human Resources Intern, you’ll play a major role in onboarding, performance, and employee engagement throughout the summer, while fully immersing yourself in the unique environment that only a summer camp can offer. 

What You Get To Do 

  • Communicates with Camp employees regarding pre-arrival details and onboarding completion
  • Prepares and sets-up for Camp Employee Check-In
  • Obtains new hire paperwork and ensures Camp employees have complete documentation
  • Provides support throughout Camp Employee Check-In dates
  • Assists with international employees (pre-arrival communication, cultural event planning, issue resolution, and more)
  • Coordinates community events with Camp Employees to encourage employee engagement
  • Live in the dorm and serve as the point of contact for HR by resolving issues and ensuring a conducive and respectful living environment.
  • Tracks performance evaluation completion
  • Conducts audits of HR documentation
  • Inputs employee data into HR systems
  • Assists in updating, importing, reporting, and exporting data into our various systems
  • Acts as the face of HR in welcoming employees during the Camp season

  • Compensation: $2,850
  • Meals and lodging (wifi not included)
  • 10% tuition discount for Discovery Camp or 50% Interlochen Arts Camp for dependents

Experience and Skills

What You Need 

  • Availability from 05/05/25 - 08/08/25
  • Prepared to live in a dorm or nature cabin setting. While we offer accessible housing accommodations, please note that due to the rustic nature of our camp, these options are limited.
  • Able to work in an outdoor environment for an extended period.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Extremely conscientious of details; attention to detail while managing multiple responsibilities is imperative
  • Have excellent customer service skills
  • Previous work in an office setting is preferred
  • Strong computer skills; Mac and Google Suite
  • A team player who can also work independently
  • Applicant must be able to work extended and varied hours in a fast paced environment
  • Interest in the arts or previous experience with Interlochen Center for the Arts is preferred
  • Students pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field are preferred

  • Rustic Living: You’ll be living in a dorm or nature cabin setting, surrounded by the beauty of northern Michigan. Wi-Fi and air conditioning are not provided in the nature cabins, encouraging a true disconnect from the digital world and a deeper connection with nature and those around you.
  • Embrace the Outdoors: The camp is nestled in a wilderness area, so expect to encounter wildlife and insects as part of the experience. Embracing the natural environment is key to enjoying your time here.
  • Outdoor Work Environment: Many of your duties will involve working outdoors, often for extended periods, so being comfortable in various weather conditions is important.
  • Community and Camaraderie: You’ll be part of a tight-knit community where collaboration, creativity, and support are at the forefront. The connections you make here will be lifelong.
