Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical & Automation Technician Trainee to join our dynamic team in Canton. This entry-level training role is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about automation and machinery to gain hands-on experience in building and commissioning high-tech automated equipment. You will work alongside seasoned professionals and develop the skills necessary to advance in the field of automation and machine engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Structured Training: Participate in a comprehensive training program designed to develop you into a skilled Mechanical & Automation Technician.
  • Machine Assembly: Assist with the mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic assembly of automated machines, including wire routing, pipe installation, and system integrations.
  • Machine Commissioning: Learn to set up and commission machines, ensuring systems are tested and operating to specification.
  • System Software Exposure: Gain experience with automation controls, including Rexroth drives, Beckhoff PLCs, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Parts Preparation & Assembly: Assist in preparing components for painting and final assembly, as well as pack spare parts kits for shipment.
  • Logistics Support: Help manage inventory, including receiving, cataloging, and ensuring materials are stored correctly.
  • Machine Stripping & Packing: Support the disassembly, rigging, and loading of machines for shipment, ensuring proper handling and packaging.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Passion for Automation: A strong interest in automation, robotics, software development, or mechanical engineering. This can be demonstrated through projects, coding, robotics competitions, or other hands-on experience.
  • Hands-On Approach: Comfort with practical work involving machine assembly, measurements, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
  • Eagerness to Learn: A proactive and enthusiastic attitude toward learning new skills, solving technical challenges, and working with innovative technologies.
  • Technical Curiosity: Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, automation, and control systems is a plus, but not required. Training will be provided.

Working Environment:
This position will be based at our Canton, Ohio facility. You will work in a collaborative environment, gaining experience across various areas of machine building and commissioning. Health, safety, and environmental regulations will be strictly adhered to at all times.

Reporting Structure:
You will report directly to the CEO of Clifford North America and collaborate with internal teams, including managers and colleagues, as well as external suppliers and customers.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Demonstrated interest in automation, robotics, or engineering (through personal projects, academic work, or coding).
  • Willingness to engage in hands-on technical work, including machine building, fault-finding, and commissioning.
  • A strong desire to develop and expand your skills in automation and machine systems.
