Student Success Coordinator

Position Title: Student Success Coordinator (On-site)

Reports to: Executive Director

Compensation: Hourly/Part-time ($16-$18 based on experience)

Hours: Monday - Thursday (10-28 hours per week, flexible schedule)

Position Overview

The Ozark Literacy Council is looking for passionate and motivated Student Success Coordinators to join our student success team. We need different types of Coordinators to take on various responsibilities, including welcoming assistance, career coaching, tutoring support, and digital literacy initiative, all aimed at empowering students on their educational and career growth journey. Each Coordinator will focus on specific duties, creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement, achievements, and personal growth. We're excited to hire 3-5 Coordinators, each bringing unique skills and experiences to help us build a dynamic team dedicated to student success.

 

Responsibilities of Student Success Coordinators:

Welcoming Assistant Coordinator:

  • Assist with student intake by conducting pre-assessments and post-assessments to evaluate student needs and progress.
  • Give orientation sessions for new students, ensuring they understand available resources and support services.
  • Provide front desk support, managing inquiries and maintaining student records.
  • Maintain a clean environment and prepare coffee and tea for students, fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Oversee technology inventory maintenance and assist students and patrons with troubleshooting technological issues.
  • Provide digital literacy support, including training on software usage and navigating online resources.

Tutoring Support Coordinator:

  • Oversee and support the OLC tutoring program, ensuring alignment with curriculum goals and student learning objectives.
  • Assess students’ needs and match them with appropriate tutors based on expertise and learning styles.
  • Foster communication between tutors, students, and faculty to create a supportive learning environment, enhance academic success
  • Improve tutor retention through ongoing feedback and professional development opportunities.
  • Write and share tutor success stories to highlight the impact of tutoring on student learning and engagement.
  • Make tutor recruitment efforts to attract qualified and diverse tutors who can meet the needs of our student population.

In-Home Tutoring Coordinator:

  • Coordinate and deliver in-home tutoring sessions tailored to the specific needs of adult learners.
  • Collaborate with tutors, volunteers, and teachers to create effective lesson plans and monitor learner progress.
  • Communicate regularly with learners to provide updates and address any concerns.
  • Assess learner performance to adjust tutoring strategies for continuous improvement.

Career Services Coordinator:

  • Use the Career Coach Checklist provided by OLC to ensure all steps are followed for effective career guidance.
  • Provide individual and group career coaching sessions to assist students in exploring career options, building resumes, and preparing for interviews.
  • Collaborate with the curriculum manager and teachers at OLC to align career coaching efforts with educational goals.
  • Write detailed success stories of students to highlight their achievements, focusing on their growth and progress through the programs, which can be used for promotional purposes and to inspire others.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, human services, or a related field
  • Experience with workforce development, career counseling, or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Strong writing, communication, and leadership skills
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to supporting diverse people and cultivating an environment of trust, inclusion, and safety
  • Strong cultural competencies related to ESL learners, minority community members, and diverse socioeconomic communities
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems efficiently 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite preferred
  • Experience in a cross-cultural background preferred
  • Proficiency in additional language studies preferred
