We are seeking a Research Technologist to assist our work studying animal models of refractory seizure disorders. This position could be a fantastic opportunity for an applicant that is interested in a research or medical career, has some training in the lab, and really wants to make a substantial contribution to a project, and to get on research papers. 

Job duties 

  1. Maintaining zebrafish and mouse colonies
  2. PCR genotyping and Sanger sequencing analysis
  3. Generating novel zebrafish knock-out and/or knock-down lines through microinjection of CRISPR/Cas9 or other reagents
  4. Running assays (electrophysiology, behavioral/morphology, calcium fluorescence microscopy) to measure seizure activity, and the response to pharmacological or genetic manipulation
  5. Maintaining and ordering supplies for the laboratory

Minimum requirements

  1. BA in life sciences or similar
  2. Excellent organizational skills and detail-orientation
  3. Self-starter who can work independently, but works well in a team environment
  4. 1 year of molecular biology lab experience (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, genotyping, etc).
  5. 1+ years research experience (in any domain)
  6. A cover letter detailing your background, interest in the lab, and career plans is required

Preferred

  1. Experience working with animals (zebrafish, and/or mouse)
  2. Demonstrated interest in neuroscience or neurology
  3. Desire to contribute to scientific manuscripts
  4. Desire to pursue a career in research or medicine
  5. 2 year commitment
