DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this internship, you will engage with the Bureau of Food Safety & Laboratory Services within the Policy & Program Division, contributing to a range of initiatives aimed at enhancing and managing diverse food safety programs. Additionally, you will support the Pennsylvania Department of Education's summer food program for children, utilizing your foundational understanding of sanitation and food safety principles to ensure effective program implementation and compliance.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
 

  • Full-time internship that will run from 5/1/2025 through 8/29/2025
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Work is located in Erie, Warren, Forrest, Crawford, Mercer, Venango and Clarion Counties.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

 

QUALIFICATIONS
Internship Requirements:

  • Current full-time enrollment in bachelor’s degree or advanced degree program in one of the following majors:
    • Food Science
    • Biology
    • Chemistry
    • Animal Science
  • An approved major course which includes a qualifying 24 credit hours of study in the physical, biological and environmental sciences may be acceptable.
     
  • Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
  • Freshman year completed.
  • Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university.


Additional Requirements: 

  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
