Analytical Chemistry and Mass Spec Research and Development Intern
Overview of Position:
Streck is seeking candidates for a Research and Development Intern to work with our scientific professionals on product enhancements and new product development. This position will primarily work within the scope of Bioanalytical Chemistry. This is an excellent opportunity to put your technical skills to work in an industry setting.
The Primary Responsibilities include:
- Provide support to bioanalytical group on various research projects within Streck.
- Sample preparation for mass spectrometry-based proteomic analysis.
- Operate and assist in the maintenance of HPLCs and mass spectrometer.
- Collect and analyze data for new products and product improvements based on the understanding of the instrumentation and project goals.
- Summarize data and provide findings to project scientists.
Technical Qualifications
Required:
- Undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or a related discipline with 2+ years of research experience.
- Prior experience in mass spectrometry-based proteomic sample preparation and data acquisition.
- Expertise in the safe handling of materials such as blood or urine.
- Capable of translating information from publications into actionable experimental designs.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective time management to maintain project timelines individually or in a team setting.
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred:
- Publication record in peer–reviewed journals.
- Hands-on experience for the operation and maintenance of high-resolution mass spectrometers.
- Basic understanding of any of the following types of techniques, clinical hematology and urinalysis, molecular biology (e.g., PCR, flow cytometry), analytical chemistry (e.g., HPLC, GC, FTIR).
Work Schedule:
- 8-hour days – Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
