Applications Engineer - Flat and Round Products

Opportunity:

The Applications Engineer - Flat and Round Products will develop applications, product forms and business opportunities for Haynes' alloys with focus on flat and round products. 

Qualifications:

Education: BS in Metallurgical or Materials Engineering; Advanced degree preferred

Experience: 0-5 years

Areas of Knowledge: Metallurgy with knowledge of high performance alloys, and Process Metallurgy, Applications Engineering; Corrosion Engineering (preferred), Markets (preferred), Materials Engineering (preferred), Manufacturing Engineering (preferred), Welding and Fabrication (preferred).

Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, project management, technical and organizational skills. Ability to use technical knowledge to help customers find practical solutions

Role Responsibilities:  

  • Develop applications for flat and round products of High Performance alloys (HPA) and corrosion resistant alloys (CRA) in assigned market segments.
  • Develop applications for HTA's and CRA's in assigned "Other" market segment of Haynes' markets.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering and Research & Technology (R&T) in the development of flat and round product forms for new alloys.
  • Provide technical support to customers in timely manner through direct intervention or use of R&T/Mill resources.
  • Identify applications and product development opportunities based on knowledge of assigned markets.
  • Support Non-Standard Products committee in managing Marketing tasks and coordination of NSP's. Support inside sales as needed.
  • Data analysis and compilation of Haynes and competitors alloys to promote our products.
  • Act as a liaison for customer technical requirements between Marketing, Inside Sales, and Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Develop customer relationships to obtain critical market intelligence; communicate market needs and direction.
  • Gatekeeping for HPA alloys in assigned market segments.
  • Collaborate with customers or national labs or universities to generate data on HPA's.
  • Compile and present technical data to customers and in technical forums.
  • Act as a liaison between customers, outside vendors, Manufacturing Engineering and R&T for new products development.
