Job Summary: The Freight Broker will be responsible for facilitating the movement of freight by connecting shippers with carriers. This role involves negotiating rates, managing relationships, and ensuring that shipments are delivered on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of the logistics and transportation industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Brokerage Operations: Act as the intermediary between shippers and carriers to arrange transportation of goods. Develop and maintain a network of reliable carriers.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate rates and terms with both shippers and carriers to ensure competitive pricing and service quality.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and managing expectations throughout the shipping process.
  • Documentation: Prepare and manage all necessary documentation, including contracts, shipping agreements, and bills of lading.
  • Tracking and Coordination: Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely delivery and address any delays or issues that arise.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, carriers, and other industry professionals to support business growth and retention.
  • Market Analysis: Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Compliance: Ensure all freight transactions comply with federal, state, and local regulations and company policies.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Proven experience as a Freight Broker or in a similar role within the logistics and transportation industry.
  • Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in using freight brokerage software and CRM systems.
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of logistics, transportation, and supply chain management. Familiarity with industry regulations and best practices.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Freight Broker License (if applicable) or other industry-specific credentials are a plus.
  • Attributes: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
