Job Overview
Tax staff accountant is responsible for preparing multiple tax projects in order to provide quality tax services and deliverables for our clients. Staff accountants are supervised by directors, managers, senior accountants and experienced staff accountants.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare various tax returns – individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns
- Ensure accurate, timely filing of federal, state, and local tax returns
- Manage client information requests and deliverables
- Keep track of deadlines and deliverables for multiple clients
- Organize financial records for clients
- Prepare payments, necessary paperwork, and documentation for clients
- Prepare accurate quarterly and annual tax reports
- Assess and research tax issues to identify solutions
- Provide support on special tax projects and initiatives
- Collaborate with staff, clients, and management
- Be familiar and keep up-to-date with tax codes, regulations, changes, and industry trends by participating in educational opportunities, participating in professional organizations, and reading professional publications
Key Skills and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minimum GPA of 3.0
- CPA license or on track for CPA certificate and license
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Self-starter with a strong analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to work well within teams as well as individually
- Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook; knowledge of Prosystem fx Tax a plus
