This position will work within the inpatient psychiatric hospital serving adult and adolescent patients. Be part of an interdisciplinary treatment team that focuses on mental health and well-being of patients in our care.
The social worker provides mental health care to adults and adolescent patients. The focus of the social worker is to assist each patient in recognizing and managing psychosocial needs and resources. The social worker is the lead in providing clinical support and oversight to direct care staff.
The South Dakota Human Services Center is a licensed specialty hospital and the state’s only public psychiatric hospital, located in Yankton, SD. At the Human Services Center we:
- provide appropriate, individualized treatment services which meet the unique and changing needs of patients;
- enable individuals to achieve their highest potential level of functioning;
- achieve enhanced program integration with other public and private agencies in order to provide successful transition of treatment services for individuals between in-patient and out-patient settings.
Full-time position works primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Part-time position works primarily 20 hours per week; flexible schedule available.
Licenses and Certifications:
Preferred candidate will have a master’s degree in social work.
Eligible to be certified as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) per SDCL 27A-1-3.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Ability to:
- apply proper interviewing techniques
- write meaningful, concise, and accurate reports and correspondence
- communicate effectively with a wide variety of people;
- develop and implement effective therapy, treatment approaches and teaching curriculum;
- oversee treatment planning and treatment;
- facilitate individual, group and family therapy;
This is a Full-Time, 40 hours weekly, position with the Department of Social Services (DSS) at the SD Human Services Center.
