Sustainability Internship
U-Haul Corporate Sustainability is seeking a Spring Semester Intern who will assist our team in a variety of research, communication, and data processing duties. The candidates must be organized and possess excellent time-management skills. Quality candidates will be detail-oriented and capable of accurately sorting and recording large amounts of data using Microsoft Excel, proficient in MS Office Suite and SQL query applications. Strong communication skills are required as the intern will be speaking with U-Haul Field teams and outside vendors. All U-Haul staff are team players who go out of their way to support each other.
The intern may work in any or all of the following areas:
Research various transportation, energy, construction, and urban planning-related topics to support U-Haul Chief Scientist.
Execute and oversee projects related to energy, water, and waste conservation within the U-Haul system.
Assist with energy benchmarking submissions using Energy Star reporting platforms.
Assist local team members with compliance on local retro-commissioning and building performance ordinances.
Update/process Sustainability Grant data.
Audit completed grants for data errors and correct where appropriate.
Collect data from winning vendor bids, input into Excel and/or Grant Tool.
Follow up with grant requestors regarding completed projects to gather information.
Hours per Week: 20-25
Preferred Qualifications:
BS/BA or higher degree in sustainability, environmental, economics, statistics, or a closely related field
2-5 years of related experience
Excellent research and data analysis skills and an interest in performing quantitative analysis in support of highly visible work
Must have a working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
SQL experience is preferred
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and work well under deadlines.
