ALSAC’s Internship Program offers an immersive experience where interns dive into our culture, contribute to organizational goals through meaningful projects, and build relationships with team members and senior leadership. Over the course of 10 weeks, interns are paired with a day-to-day manager and given significant assignments, gaining a true understanding of what it means to be part of ALSAC/St. Jude. ALSAC Summer Intern Innovation Project: Throughout the internship, interns will connect with innovators across ALSAC, learning the art of Design Thinking. Working in teams, they will engage in creative sessions and prepare to present their projects to ALSAC’s CEO and Executive Leadership Team.

End Date: August 8, 2025
Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
Pay Rate: $14/hour

Requirements
A passion for our mission!
Must be undergraduate, graduate, or graduation as of Spring 2025.
Comfortable with Zoom and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Active participation in the Summer Intern Innovation Project through cross-functional collaboration.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Specific Internship Description and Preferred Skills:
Not everyone gets to spend their summer at a nonprofit that raises more than $2.5 billion a year.
Not everyone gets to raise funds and awareness to research and treat childhood cancer, as part of a global movement to raise survival rates for kids everywhere.
Not everyone gets access to nonstop puns and writing nerd-dom.
But you’re not everyone, so come be a summer 2025 Communications intern at ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Do you have the ability to work in a team environment, independently and energetically, and a passion for internal and external communications? If so, we welcome you to apply for this role where you can flex your writing, organizational and research muscles to assist ALSAC’s strategic communications team on public relations and internal communications teams. During your internship, you will do things like:
Public Relations
Analyze and research reporters, build target media lists, maintain strategic planning resources and write interview briefing documents, day-of media plans, press releases, executive quotes, media alerts and advisories.
Research and write about the history and programs of ALSAC and St. Jude for our internal reference resource.
Track and compile press for various events, initiatives, and news.
Assist with coordinating and event-day staffing for programs such as St. Jude Runs (July 29 - August 2, 2025) and the FedEx St. Jude Championship (August 7-10, 2025).
Learn to calculate media impressions for print, broadcast, and online press hits reflected in these recaps
Broaden knowledge of the function and growing role that online news sites, blogs and social media play in public relations
Internal Communications
Write stories for ALSAC’s intranet about organizational activities, campaigns and programs.
Write featured announcements to promote events and initiatives.
Help create digital signage that will display on campus and as screensavers for employees working remotely.
Assist with coordination for events such as: CEO Coffee Break (a monthly organization-wide town hall), National Training Meeting (4th week of July 2025).
As with all things in life, there will be some administrative tasks. Don’t worry, we will help you with these items, which include:
Submitting internal forms to coordinate media interviews for patients and executives
Fielding media and information requests
Compiling media reports
Maintain and update the organization of the PR department’s management platforms (e.g. project management portal, subscriptions lists, meeting agendas, approval trackers, and media lists)
Majors preferred: English, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism.
Skills preferred: Writing, research, project management and organization. Graphic design a plus.
