Staff Accountant

The Accounting & Finance Department at Comoto consists of highly motivated people who are encouraged to bring their skills and initiatives to the table. This role will be part of the Accounting team and will report directly to the Senior Manager, Accounting. The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the accounting team in creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization. You must be someone who can work independently and be able to understand basic to moderate accounting concepts. Clear communication skills, documentation skills, accuracy, and attention to detail are key requirements.

Our Next Staff Accountant Will: 

  • Perform monthly reconciliations and ensure accuracy of assigned GL accounts.
  • Be responsible for activities relating to the maintenance of the general ledger, and related financial analysis and reports, in addition to assisting with the financial statements.
  • Apply financial concepts to financial planning and business analysis to ensure adequate controls are available to achieve the desired results.
  • Think creatively to solve complex accounting challenges.
  • Assist in any special projects that rise through the course of business.
  • Support various aspects of our annual audit including but not limited to interim testing, year-end testing and managing audit requests.

Our Next Staff Accountant Has:

  • 3+ years experience in accounting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, reconciliation principles, and accounting guidance interpretation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Excel skills, including complex formulas such as index-match, vlookups, and macros
  • A positive attitude that likes to hustle and improve processes
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks/responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships to effectively navigate across the organization
  • An Associate or Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with a focus on Accounting

Preferred: 

  • CPA or CPA Candidate
  • Experience with JD Edwards and  RetailPro not required, but a strong advantage
  • Preferred experience in retail, ecommerce, technology, or consumer products industries, but not required.
