ITS Project Management Intern (Memphis, TN)

ALSAC’s Internship Program offers an immersive experience where interns dive into our culture, contribute to organizational goals through meaningful projects, and build relationships with team members and senior leadership. Over the course of 10 weeks, interns are paired with a day-to-day manager and given significant assignments, gaining a true understanding of what it means to be part of ALSAC/St. Jude. ALSAC Summer Intern Innovation Project: Throughout the internship, interns will connect with innovators across ALSAC, learning the art of Design Thinking. Working in teams, they will engage in creative sessions and prepare to present their projects to ALSAC’s CEO and Executive Leadership Team. 

 

 

Program Details 

 

Start Date: June 2, 2025  

End Date: August 8, 2025  

Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday)  

Pay Rate: $14/hour 

Work Location: 501 St Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105

Requirements  

A passion for our mission! 

Must be undergraduate, graduate, or graduation as of Spring 2025.  

Comfortable with Zoom and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 

Active participation in the Summer Intern Innovation Project through cross-functional collaboration. 

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. 

Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

Ability to maintain confidentiality. 

Must be 18 years of age or older. 

 

Specific Internship Description and Preferred Skills:  

The Project Management Office standardizes the project-related processes and facilitates the sharing of resources, methodologies, tools, and techniques. It ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The PMO also plays a crucial role in aligning projects with the organization's strategic objectives, thereby maximizing value and benefits realization. 

 

Portfolio Management Assistance

Prioritize Projects: Evaluate ongoing projects based on strategic alignment, resource availability, and potential ROI. 

Risk Assessment: Identify and mitigate risks across the portfolio. 

Performance Tracking: Use dashboards to monitor project progress and performance metrics. 

Capacity Analysis

Resource Allocation: Assess current resource utilization and identify gaps. 

Forecasting: Predict future resource needs based on project timelines and workloads. 

Optimization: Implement strategies to optimize resource usage and avoid bottlenecks. 

Research PMO Best Practices, Tools, and Procedures

Best Practices: Look into frameworks like PMBOK, PRINCE2, and Agile methodologies. 

Tools: Evaluate tools such as Microsoft Project, JIRA, and Trello for project management. 

Procedures: Standardize processes for project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure. 

Review Project Management Backlog for Process Improvements

Identify Bottlenecks: Analyze the backlog to find recurring issues or delays. 

Streamline Processes: Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency. 

Feedback Loop: Establish a system for continuous feedback and improvement. 

Facilitate Team Meetings

Agenda Setting: Prepare and share meeting agendas in advance. 

Engagement: Encourage participation and ensure all voices are heard. 

Follow-Up: Document action items and follow up on progress. 

 

Majors preferred: Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Interdisciplinary majors that include technology component 

 

Skills preferred: Strong Communication, Self-Starter with ability to prioritize tasks, Collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams, Detail Oriented, Curious with enthusiasm for learning new technology
