Internship Summary
Internships at the National Council for Mental Wellbeing provide recent college graduates or current college students with a 12-week remote experience to grow within a professional area of interest. As a National Council intern, you will model our organization values: showing a bias for action, helping shape the future, being a team player, being curious, and championing diversity, equity, and inclusion.

All interns are paid $20/hour. This is a remote, full-time internship projected to start with a spring cohort at the National Council on Wednesday, January 22 and end on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. While this internship can be done remotely from anywhere in the US, you must primarily work in our Washington, DC business hours of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM ET.

Internship Responsibilities

We are looking for an enthusiastic intern with strong data visualization and analytical skills to support the Instructor Certification Team. The successful candidate will contribute to a key project aimed at enhancing our quality assurance processes for instructor compliance and course delivery. Working closely with our team, you will research current trends and best practices in quality assurance, gather relevant data, and help develop recommendations to improve instructor compliance tracking moving forward.

This internship will focus on building a live instructor compliance dashboard in Tableau to monitor critical metrics related to instructor performance, course size, evaluation scores, and adherence to the MHFA curriculum. You will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful, data-driven decisions that directly impact the quality of mental health training worldwide.

Research and Analysis

  • Research current trends in quality assurance and compliance tracking, particularly in education and certification-based programs.
  • Analyze existing data on instructor performance, course delivery, and evaluation metrics.
  • Identify key compliance factors that influence instructor effectiveness and course quality, such as instructor course size, evaluation scores, and adherence to curriculum guidelines.

Data Visualization & Reporting

  • Develop data visualizations using Tableau to present compliance and performance data in a clear, actionable format.
  • Collaborate with team members to define metrics that will be tracked on the instructor compliance dashboard.
  • Use data to make recommendations on improving proactive tracking methods for instructor compliance.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Instructor Certification Team to understand current processes and gaps in monitoring instructor compliance.
  • Communicate insights and recommendations clearly to stakeholders, including team members and senior management.

Dashboard Development

  • Assist in the creation of a live, interactive Tableau dashboard to visualize and monitor instructor compliance in real-time.
  • Ensure the dashboard is user-friendly, accurate, and up-to-date with the latest data.

Required Qualifications
• Current student (completed at least two full-time years of undergraduate study) or a recent graduate (in the last six months) in an undergraduate or graduate degree program
• Completed or currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Statistics, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python) is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate data insights into actionable recommendations.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with quality assurance or compliance monitoring processes.
• Interest in mental health or mental health first aid training programs is a plus.
• Proficient in Tableau for data visualization; prior experience with dashboard development is a plus
