Clinical Data Analyst I (4503)
Overview
Responsible for the initial analysis of genetic data and the upload and preparation of the data for data review in the GeneSight Data Analysis Software. Determines acceptability and if re-work is required.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes raw data for patient testing results including input of analysis parameters according to SOPs.
- Makes judgement calls for individual samples and confirming or overwriting automated calls and uploads them to the data analysis software.
- Determines if re-work is required and what type of re-work.
- Identifies samples that have failed and ensures that they are repeated in a timely manner.
- Records and follows-up on non-conformances identified during data review.
- Provides technical expertise and guidance to laboratory personnel in troubleshooting technical problems and ensures that corrective actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
- Communicates with lab supervisors or Lab Directors regarding non-conformant data.
- Maintains technical and scientific expertise in the field of molecular diagnostics and pharmacogenetics and participates in continuing education activities.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a medical technology or biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science require
- 2 years of CLIA or CAP laboratory experience required.
- At least 1 year experience in a high complexity clinical laboratory preferred.
- Excellent time management, scheduling, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work effectively under tight timelines and schedules.
- Ability to work independently and as a contributing team member.
- Ability to sense the importance or impact of issues and situations and take appropriate actions.
- Ability to occasionally work a variable schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Must be flexible, innovative, and self-motivated.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
Lifting Requirements – medium work or exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force consistently. Physical Requirements – stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, reaching, and repetitive motion. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions. Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions – exposure to fumes, dust, extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid, noise, vibration, mists or gases, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, and radiant energy hazards. OSHA Category I – duties performed routinely requires exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue.
