Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary:  

The Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) is responsible for certification of continuing care retirement communities as authorized by KSA 40-2235. This position is primarily responsible for directing, planning, developing, initiating, coordinating, maintaining, and evaluating all continuing care retirement community’s applications, annual disclosure statements, contracts and annual audits. 

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:  

The Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) is responsible for certification of continuing care retirement communities as authorized by KSA 40-2235. This position is primarily responsible for directing, planning, developing, initiating, coordinating, maintaining, and evaluating all continuing care retirement community’s applications, annual disclosure statements, contracts and annual audits. 

Monitoring certification status and send renewal reminders to providers for annual renewal and change of ownership; Establishing procedures and accountabilities to ensure continuity of the program; Analyzing and evaluating program effectiveness; Reviews performance measures for providers, other state agencies, stakeholders, ect to ensure work is performed according to requirements and develops courses of action as necessary for contractors, vendors, or providers if established performance measures are not met. This is accomplished through the review of data, service delivery processes, outcome measures, and stakeholder feedback. This includes the implementation of all related policies and processes, including those for the collection and use of data to inform leadership in decision making.

Ensure monitoring and accountability for short-term, intermediate, and distal outcome measures associated with grantee and contractor deliverables. Assist in vendor performance management to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of services delivered.  Develop and oversee corrective action and other necessary remediation as needed.

 Establishing close relationships with professional and community groups interested in the program; Seeking and drawing upon other public and voluntary organizations for services; consultation and skills; Ensuring diffusion of positive results to all stakeholders; and directing a staff of professional and technical personnel.

Acting as a liaison between the Survey, Certification and Credentialing Commission (SCCC) and the Financial, and Information Services Commission (FISC) to assist with continuity of services and programs.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • One year of experience in general office, clerical and administrative support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
  • Travel
  • One year of experience in planning, organizing and directing the work of a department, program or agency. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
  • One year accounting experience. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Education at the post-high school level in accounting, business or office practices with 2 years of experience in administrative and accounting support.
