The State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Financial Assistance has an opening for a Senior Water Resource Control Engineer in the Cleanup Fund. The position is located at 801 K Street, Sacramento CA, 95814 right in the heart of downtown close to light rail stations, other public transportation, awesome restaurants, and more.
Duties:
Under the direction of the Supervising Engineering Geologist and consistent with good customer service practices and the goals of the State and Regional Board’s Strategic Plan, the incumbent is expected to be courteous and provide timely responses to internal/external customers, follow through on commitments, and to solicit and consider internal/external customer input when completing work assignments. As the Unit Lead for Technical Unit II, the incumbent supervises staff technical and financial decision-making for cost reimbursements for Cleanup Fund programs. The incumbent directs staff that perform detailed technical and engineering evaluations of correction action activities for leaking underground storage tank (UST) sites and improves and maintains consistent reimbursement decision-making in keeping with Cleanup Fund guidelines and the closure requirements of the Low Threat Underground Storage Tank Case Closure Policy. This position requires interaction with internal and external stakeholders, training staff and maintaining staff productivity. The work environment is fast-paced with opportunities to innovate and lead positive change.
Specific duties include the following: Supervises and directs technical staff performing reviews of hydrogeological and engineering data. The Senior Water Resources Control Engineer manages staff in a fast-paced, productive, and cooperative environment as they perform review and analysis of complex technical documents and information related to planning, management, and implementation of water quality protection and contaminated site cleanup projects. The incumbent is responsible for providing timely and professional assistance to the public, stakeholders, internal staff, and external agencies by various methods of communication.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
