Production Student Fellow

Maryland Public Television is seeking a Production Student Fellow who will assist various departments with functions that range from the full gamut of production to the final product. This fellowship program offers an in-depth, hands-on learning experience for college students interested in all stages of broadcast/digital content creation. The program will run from January 2025 through August 2025, at 16 hours per week.

Position Duties —
The fellow will learn the technical aspects of television and multimedia broadcast production, while gaining exposure to a control room environment.
Tasks include, but not limited to:
- studio/location production
- camera and teleprompter operation
- non-linear editing
- location sound recording
- field and studio lighting
Other tasks include conducting story research, assisting crew during field and studio productions, logging and transcribing footage, media management, searching databases for archival assets, generating content for MPT website and social media platforms, scripting short video packages, and editing in Avid or Premiere.
Minimum Requirements —
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate is required. Applicants must be current college and/or university students or recent college graduates within the past (6) months.
Experience: Applicants must have prior experience with media production and video editing software.
