Do you love Parkside and want to help shape the experiences of future Parkside students? Are you curious about the inner workings of a university, particularly the new student recruitment process? The Admissions Counselor Career Exploration Internship offers a hands-on opportunity to learn about the admissions profession while gaining valuable skills in communication, event planning, and student engagement. This internship is an excellent fit for students majoring in communication, psychology, education, sociology, or business/sales especially those who are considering a future in higher education or related fields.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prospective Student Engagement: Meet with prospective students and families to provide personalized guidance and information about UW-Parkside programs, campus life, and the admissions process
  • Office Support: Serve as the first point of contact in the admissions office, greeting visitors, responding to inquiries, and maintaining a professional and friendly atmosphere.
  • Phone and Email Communication: Handle admissions-related phone and email inquiries, providing accurate and timely information to prospective students and their families.
  • School Visits: Represent UW-Parkside at local high schools and community events to promote the university and its offerings (as schedule permits). Note: The intern will be reimbursed for travel expenses related to off-campus work. Student must hold a valid Driver's License.
  • Event Planning: Assist in planning and coordinating admissions events, such as campus tours, open houses, and informational sessions, ensuring a welcoming and engaging experience for attendees.

The intern may enroll for internship credit at UW-Parkside, either within their own department or by enrolling in UWP 494: Cross-Disciplinary Internship.
