Director of Emergency Management

The Wayne County Commissioners are currently accepting employment applications for the full-time position Emergency Management Director.
DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- COUNTY DISASTER AND PREPAREDNESS - Disaster preparedness programs, continuity of operations plans, recovery planning, emergency exercise programs and recovery activities, school emergency exercises, hazard mitigation actions, all-hazards emergency operation plan, training programs on public safety, emergency preparedness, etc.
- AGENCY COORDINATION – Public safety radio operators’ group, radio systems and towers, Emergency Operations Center, County emergency notification system, awareness and educational presentations, public safety interoperable communications, communications equipment.
- GRANTS - Seek and apply for grants and maintain grant-purchased equipment.
- SITUATIONAL AWARENESS AND INFORMATION SHARING (to local response partners) – and participate in appropriate briefings and/or meetings in such capacity.
- EMERGENCY RESPONSE – HAZMAT spills and other environmental hazards, State Emergency Operations Center coordination, damage assessments after storms or any incidents impacting life and property in Wayne County, support to local agencies.
- AGENCY MANAGEMENT – Supervision of agency personnel, agency budget.
PREFERRED: Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or comparable degree, plus 3-5 years of experience in emergency management, public safety, or equivalent. Successful candidate will need to complete all courses required by the Ohio Emergency Management Agency.
