Job Title: IT Technician
Location: Akron, Ohio
Term: Regular
Type: Part-time/f Full-time
Hours per week: 30 - 40 hours
Work Hours: Monday – Friday 8 AM – 5 PM
Start date: Immediate
Education/Experience: IT, computer technology current student or recent graduate.
Applicants having 2 – 3 years verifiable experience as computer
technician in office or university computer lab will be considered
This individual will install, configure, troubleshoot and support all information technology (IT), including PCs, computer hardware and software, phone communication system, etc. Keep company at the leading edge of industry technology such as drones, tablets for mobile office, printers at multiple company offices, etc.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Install, configure, assemble, upgrade, troubleshoot and repair microcomputer and communication equipment
- Assist in the administration and support of PC network and provide on-site assistance to company employees in Akron and other GSI offices
- Monitor network activities daily for connection issues, viruses and unsuccessful Backups
- Make recommendations regarding hardware and software acquisitions, prepare documentation and monitor and assess technology needs
- Support the management of user accounts, email accounts, file permission, etc
- Provide 1st level support for all workstations, laptops, printers and mobile devices
- Maintain and coordinate hardware and software license renewals
- Approve invoices from IT consultants and dealers
- Maintain the IT asset tracking inventory
KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITIES
- The ideal candidate must possess in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and Applications
- Must be able to provide technical support and/or trouble shooting for all IT components
- Should have the ability to evaluate and purchase hardware and software
- Must have excellent organization and communication skills
- Should have the ability to assist non-technical users
SUGGESTED TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- Should have experience in networking; both wired and wireless
- Must have a good understanding of installing drivers and connecting basic printers
- Must be skill in installing and uninstalling common computer software
- Should have completed training and/or have experience in Microsoft Office applications
- Must be task driven and able to work independently
EDUCATION
- Associated Degree in Computer Science or Computer Technology is preferred
- Two to three years experience as Computer Technician supporting a small to mid-sized office
- Two to three years of verifiable experience supporting a university computer lab will also be considered
